2008|11|06 CLARINET.WOODWINDS.COM: Obama is President.

It's two days after the that special event that happens only four years in the United States: Presidential Election Day! We have elected a new President. Our new President-elect has the support of the world (especially Kenya - who took a holiday). Our President-elect has the support of more than half of the American people. Our President-elect found support in many diverse communities. Our President-elect has made law his profession, which is a good sign for the people who need the protection of law.

Our President-elect is the first African-American President. It is with substantial pride that we can say we are Americans today. What mattered was not the color of his skin, but the content of his ideas. Even for those that voted for his opponent, most did not vote against his race: they voted against his ideas. None should forget that. The United States is ready for an African-American President. That is good news for America.

Imperfections abide in American Presidents, and some people will approach Mr. Obama with trepidation. President-elect Obama has followers with very high expectations. He will be measured against the great in American politics. And he will be judged critically by a people who have grown tired of incompetent government.

Today is dawn in America. The future stretches over a blue horizon without end. To be sure, there are storm clouds overhead: war, economic crises, forclosures, and terrorists. But there are bright places on that horizon. We must find them and warm ourselves in the breaking sun.
